Cajon

maybe you can check this brand call schlagwerk. They produce good cajons..the tone is very different from what we see now in singapore all made with birch plywoods.

how the info helps.

(was gonna post something like this)
Anyone knows where i can get a pretty solid one for a good price? I've been looking and it's between this and a mandala drum :D

Late reply, but...

Swee Lee sells Meinl brand - they are a bit ex (around $500 for those with the tunable snare) but the sound is pretty good IMO.

Maestro also sells one model for about $200. Does not sound as good as the Meinl ones. The snare sound not as obvious.

I have questions! I have purchased a Meinl Makah Burl Pick-up cajon a while back, but haven't had the time to check it out.

1) What does tightening the front plate do, and,
2) Does tightening the snares at the bottom = more snare sound?

I tried playing my cajon recently, and I find it a little stiff, so I don't know if it's better to fiddle with the front plate, or the snares.

Help?

Thanks much,
elson.
