By any random chance anyone knows how to repair an ipod?

Hey

Im just gonna try my luck here at SOFT
Plus i dont know where to start this thread so here it goes.

my gf gave me her ipod 5g but apparently the earphones jack are spoilt i think..
i can only hear on the left side and when i change to different pairs of earphones it still doesnt work...
i was wondering if anyone in SG knows how to help me fix it for a small price...
If im not wrong i was told by a friend that i just need to resolder
But i dont wanna risk anything opening up the ipod..
if anyone would be kind enough to help me out

do you have a heat gun? just point it at the jack for ard ten mins and you should be good. if not can just open it up and solder it yourself. search youtube for guide of how to open it up.

Try use contact spray. Spray it at the jack and wipe it off with a cotton bud.

have you tried those earphones with other media players? try that just to rule it out completely.

the only way to fix an Ipod is to send it back to apple unfortunately.

though you still need to import things and you risk damaging it further. usually people just get their stuff there for products that have been phased out by apple since its gonna be cheaper to diy repair than to send it to apple.

yup, its definitely cheaper to do it yourself. i have actually repaired a few ipod, and other mp3 for friends before. well, we gotta blame the stupid RoHS compliance treaty for this, could arguably be the single biggest cause for hardware failure in the world right now.
