I would like to have your opinion...on Buy & Sell in Singapore.. :?:

Buying a New gear is so easy and Selling a Second hand stuff in "Singapore" is very difficult...Even if you manage to sell, got to let it go for the lowest price... :!:

This scenario is quite true in Singapore ?

Any comments :?:

PS: Pls dont post nonsense...Thanks

actually, i find buying used stuff pretty hard. cant seem to find what i want.

bt as for sale of products, so far i can sell it and nt really make a big loss

Buy lo, sell hi

Buying gear from an authorized store is easy becos just get money out from your pocket and buy it ! It comes with warranty and it's new !!!

Selling a gear is difficult becos nobody like to use used item, it's tougher when the deal is only half or 2/3 of the retail price. Singaporeans are generally a stingy and calculative lot when comes to buying things (However, Singaporeans are generous when it comes to charity).

People only buy at least at 1/3 of the retail price. Technology products
depreciate as years goes by, and music gear normally is a niche market with buyers from a small market. These buyers already have their own setup and only buy to add on to the setup, if the price is not attractive,
they can do with the current setup.

Anway, buy lo and sell hi is a good business!

Market is relatively small over here.....

It boils down to the individual's expectation.

If I buy something retail at $300, tomorrow I regret buying it. If it's not a sought after item, I should be expecting around $100 at best if I wanna clear it in a hurry.

If it's a sought after item, should be easy to clear at $200. But dealers will definately offer at best $100-150. Remember, you purchased at retail price. Dealers get items before the markup, so his cost could be $220 or so (for expamle). Good things about dealers is that there is minimum hassle, you bring it, he sees it happy, he takes it and give you cash. That's why you have dealers.

One advise: DO NOT GO FOR CONSIGNMENT, MOSTLY NOT WORTH THE EFFORT AND TIME. GET CASH, even if its low, you end the story there.

I often see jokers who post items which retails at $300, want to sell at like $260-280. That's really a joke. The item already pass thru one hand already, which makes it used, even if you owned it for 1hour only. (Some even try to profit from it, eg sell $350)

I got only one thing to say. YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MADE THE CHOICE, SO BEAR THE CONSEQUENCE OF YOUR CHOICE.
Don't expect to pass an unwanted baby to someone else, just because you lost your fancy on it. I don't want to spew out names calling here.

That's why, when I sell on net, I follow a set of etiquettes and unwritten rules. Then I can stay around and deal for a long time. Be honest.

Well, Singapore is a tiny island with 4 million ppl squeezed into it. With classified ads like Luther's and Soft's, buy/sell 2nd hand musical instrument has never been easier. 1(ok...i mean 2 :D ) website for the whole country and meeting up is so damn easy (how far is travelling fr singapore to singapore yah).

Comparing to other countries, which even if you can manage to find a classified website like ours, u probably need to drive hours or fly a plane to meet the other party (for that, u'd probably choose to fly that person aeroplane instead :D ).

For that i think its we're fortunate. Stop complaining boys :)

That my friend is where the rule: "BUYER BEWARE" comes in.

The more the desperate the party, the more he stands to lose.
