hey there

not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, but never mind that.

can i have some suggestions on which saxophone i should buy as a beginner. i've never played the saxophone before and i don't have any idea on things saxophone and stuff. i'm also on a tight budget, so i'm looking for something within a 400~700 range.

if you know of any reasonably good saxophone within that range, do let me know. or if there are any other suggestions for a newbie, please by all means.

thanks.

I'm looking for the new saxophone for begginers too, rather Trevor J. James or Yamaha.
I don't know Singapore at all and I will stay there for 3 days only. I faced difficulties googling addresses of shops. Are there any possibilities to find these saxophones in Singapore?

Thanks in advance, Ksenia.

You may want to visit to Yamaha Music School located at Plaza Singapura to find out more..

Well as a start, there are 4 basic type of saxophone mainly used. (If i'm not wrong there are 12). Namely, soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone... Frankly, for u as a beginner, u can start off with any of this. It totally depends on which range of instrumentation u prefer... Recommended is u either start off with the alto or tenor. As for ur budget, I don't think u can get a yamaha sax with it. Maybe u can buy a good 2nd hand sax instead. Some of the music shop in Sg selling sax are Accent music, Band World, Dennis music, and Ranking music. Why not check them out... Hope this helps...

Went to Dennis today and was recommended Made-in-Taiwan Chateau.

Anyone has this brand? Is this recommended over other brands e.g. Yamaha for budget of $2000?

Hey man, i have a chateau. Really good for its price. Intonation and sound is well acceptable. Dennis after sales service also not bad. Eccentric guy to chat with..

What kind of saxophone is good for a beginner and how much does a moderate one cost? I'm interested in picking this up on my own too.
