For under 300, what bass would you guys recommend? No need amp. I play ballads, pop, rock mostly. Will be using for recording purposes as well.

i tihnk city music no longer carries that bass

they sorta "outsourced" its sales to luther. apparently isnt a very big mover at city music

IF I did not remember wrongly, it's 215 for the Samick, 195 for the SX. I'm not so sure about the craftsman as I got mine during the sale but I'm pretty sure it's under 300.

+1 for the SX basses, but you have to try them... thing is that davis might not allow you to touch their guitars. a few years back, a friend wanted to try a the PRS there but the uncle said something akin to "try one is the same as trying all what!" which really put me off buying anything from them that isn't available at the counter...

How about TGM basses? How do they compare to the above? Looks are not an issue because this bass will be at home most of the time and will be used for laying bass tracks.

okay lah .. i feel that service at davis improved alot alreayd .. that time they allowed me to try the pedulla basses .. =) ... and somemore they didn't stand beside me and ask .. "so how? wanna buy or not??" .. neither did they just snatch the bass away from me like in the past .. jeanette has a nice smile and she knows her stuff .. so .. i'm sure you can find her .. =) ..

please dude .. don't get TGM basses .. you'll cry .. get those brand we recommend lah ..

dude.trust me..u wudnt wanna even think of craftsman..during the citymusic sale..i wanted to get my first bass..i intended on the craftsman jazz copy.i went all the way there..when i tried it..thru a hartke b600 i tink..man,..the sound..i wudnt say like shit lar..but it was rather disappointing.doesnt seem full.maebe its the pick ups.but den again..the guitar was bloody light..felt too toyish and filmsy..in the end..i added like anuder 200 bucks..and got a better quality bass..i bought my hamer BKCH SFB X/T series.damn power..using humbuckers.like u noe..the MM type of humbuckers.

Oh ya, for bass recording, will bass guitars have the 60-cycle hum thing? It's pretty irritating when I record e.guitar with my p90 guitar.

if your hand is touching the strings, there'll be very little hum if you turn all the pickups up.

of course, it's good not to have stage lights in your room ;)

So my crt monitor will also give me hum from a bass?
