so what i wanna as is kinda like if like some pickup has like standard position. like being specifically made to be placed in bridge or something?

,cheers!

check the pick up specs output levels. Hotter neck pup vs weaker bridge pup might not so workable

dont worry its not like wearing your left shoe on your right feet vice versa.try it out.i may sound better if not then its something new you learn.

some pickups got difference.. like for example hotrails got many versions, some meant to be put in bridge, some put in neck, some for tele some for strat. but some are universal eg paf pro, tone zone (i think).

the X2N didn;t sound tat nice in the neck to me. output was WAY too high and the mids too strong. induced annoying feedback, and was way high middish. so although it did cut through, the tone was annoying.

so its really up to you.

sum pickups are meant to be in the neck or bridge
but if u like to sound different
u could go for it

errm guys, well i got this silvertone sg copy right, and i brought a 2nd hand epi les paul standard pickups. neck and bridge. and the tech say my cavity is actually too small?

so whats my best course of action?

err...cavity too small? cut the cavity out to make more space. okok, i'll leave that to the pros to answer.

but yeah. i wonder too. what makes the difference in the pickup that its more suitable in a bridge/neck position? output level? i tot that can be arranged by setting pickup height. then what then?

The only rule that's good to follow is to not put a pickup in the neck position that's louder than the bridge pickup. String vibration is stronger at the neck position, so it may be difficult or impossible to balance neck and bridge pickups if the neck pickup is louder than the bridge pickup.

Then again, what is there to balance when you've got compressors and distortion units? Haha. You playing classical gas on the electric guitar ah?
