hi,

i am really a blues guitarist but just curious as to whether any drummers learn blues drumming?
and i mean proper blues drumming. not the Doo-Daaaa-Doooo-Dit "I's woke up dis mornin" Doo-Daaaa-Doooo-Dit.

stuff like the 12/8 blues beat, the different types of shuffles texan, rolling, half-time, twist. also the clave and reverse claves or the new orleans street rhythms or even the bo didley beat.
up-two feels, Zydeco, swampy rhumbas?
jump swing, bebop and dixieland jazz drums are more common i guess, due to the big interest in jazz.

just purely out of curiosity, not flaming! :)

yah i can play all tht nonsense.
for ur info woke up this morning is a freaking classic. and tht transition from the rhumba to the balls to the wall shuffle chorus is not easy. keeping the time stable, straight to swung and dynamic lvl takes awhile to get.

Now that glblues have mentioned it, I'm curious if there's any site on the internet that gives a decent understanding on the mentioned styles such as shuffles texas , zydeco, etc ?

the first guy, explains and plays the best. he has the nicest feel for the shuffle as welll. the others not soooo gdddddd

Yeah, my first Band I played in is a Blues Band - Blues are nice, loud and Groovy....still like it till today...you know those stuffs Heritage Plays...A lot of Triplets & Shuffles...

Do a non-stop 3 hours Rehersal for blues - is very Physical - tiring especially when you have to do the Shuffle Fast using Bass-Drum...Hahahahaha Band says - Let's try it one more time - I chai-lat..hahaha !
