Blind Busker @ Centrepoint

Hey guys, everytime i walk by Centrepoint, i always get quite impressed with the blind busker who plays blues and stuff on his guitar and drum machine. it seems so easy for him to churn out his bluesy licks, it puts me to shame.

i've heard from friends who've dealt with him before that he's actually an avid guitar collector who got ripped off/cheated by people who took advantage of his handicap. he's now got all these really weird looking guitars with funny pickup colours and all.. probably a result of these scams.

kaoz, the nerve of some people... after seeing him rip on his fretboard, really must push myself to improve man... i mean with his visual impairment his learning curve must be REALLY steep.

hes the same guy ? yea hes really fantastic .. power ... he plays harmonica too

anyway just to share a bad experience i had with blind people ( not tt i got anything against them in general)

once i was walking somewhere around bugis , there was this blind uncle wanted to go centerpoint ... he was walking at the pavement , very very near the road . then i observe him lar .. very dangerous ... cos almost veered off onto the road with alot of oncoming cars

as a good citizen should do , i help him , cross the road , direct him to the side of the road.

and guess wad ?

while walking by himself he almost got himself knocked down by a car , i help him cross the road. he like irritated i was helping him , cos i gently pushed him in the correct direction , holding his hand and his back , directing him in the correct direction . and he like got pissed with me. he tell me he want take cab or just hail ANY CAR down to c if can get a lift to centerpoint.

ya know bugis the main road to city hall ( the same stretch u walk from bugis MRT to brash basah) there is this side road there with nearly no cars no cabs . i waited beside him for nearly 20 mins and was late for an appointment cos no cab wanted to stop. and the old man kept grumbling at me and like irritated cos must wait so long for a cab / car. eventually , i stopped one small little red hatchback and the driver helped to send the old man to centerpoint.

moral of the story is : sometimes , sympathy does not equate to gratitude

Yeah- I saw him a few times playing a Pacifica. Good player - he can play a lot of different styles convincingly.
