bjfe honeybee alternative?

i checked out the honeybee at

and i love the way the overdrive "melts" and is does not have the crunch pedals like the 808 has.
unfortunetely it costs about 350 to 400, (and im not even sure if it is SGD or USD)

so was wondering if anyone knows of an alternative, transparent, mild/soft/melting kind of OD, that is not too heavy on the wallet. =)

heard MXR's GT-OD is something like that
but not as close to the honeybee as from what i heard from proguitarshop
