what do you think is the best guitar design of all time?

in my opinion, it's none other than the Fender Stratocaster. simply a design marvel. a modder's dream. bolt on design makes it possible and easy to be able to mod/change every part. neck broken? no problem, buy a new neck to bolt on. wanna try a new body wood? no problem, buy a new body to bolt to the neck. change pickups? easy peasy (easier to change than rear mounted electronics).

not only that, the design itself is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. it's an old design but a timeless classic one that is relevant even till today and for many more years to come.

then the 5 way switching, 3 controls and 3 pickups for versatility...

Probably the Gibson SG, double cutaway for easy access, two humbuckers, set neck ueber sustain.

But I don't even like the SG lol I prefer Les Paul.

Tele for me. Looks classic. Feels and plays brilliant. Espcially Tom Anderson and Suhr ones. Love both! Unfortunately i own neither. T_T

I think the best design is the Ibanez S series. Slim, light and you won't have to worry about the trem unit wearing out. It's just my opinion but what do you guys think?

a strat that has 22 frets and a contoured heel for the sake of a little more extra wood and better playability. the rest of the design is good.

+1 to strat!

my only complain is that the electronics not accessible enough. Means that I have to unstrung the guitar, open the pickguard(unscrew 11 screws) just to do a minor soldering.

I think it's abit troublesome

but the pickguard assembly idea is genius. you can have several pickguard assemblies of different pickups, whenever you need a different pickup config you just switch over.

i think the double cutaway design of the strat have been imitated but never equaled. in one way or another..guitar makers are expanding on the very same format that leo started with. i mean look at ibanez s series o..its basically a power up version of a strat...
