being a singer?

hi all, what do you think are the essential qualities or so on that a singer must have? (that means if you want to be a singer you must have)

what if one feels scared singing in front of a big crowd(like in front of schoolmates) in a performance, but willing to sing in a small crowd (of close, really close friends such that you dont mind making a clown of yourself or even crack voice)? and he wants to be a singer? do you think he can make it?

All I can say is, go for it. You never know if you never try. But if you sing like William Hung then maybe you need to get a change of career path.

I have this problem too, and it take a whole lot of guts to do it IMO.

Maybe can start from small bunch of people watching, then you increase the number of traffic, steadily building confidence along the way. Try various shapes and sizes of stages, these too make you feel "ahh, been there done that" so you build up that kind of confidence

Each shows is always a learning progress, so start gaining those experiences my friend! :D

i think confidence is the biggest stumbling block for a lot of vocalists man. personally i enjoy jamming with a vocalist with no presence far far faaar less than 1 whos shameless-to put it bluntly.
affects quite a lot for me. i think if you're scared of singing in front of a large audience, make it a point to do as much as possible in everyday life that takes you a step out of your comfort zone.

Just relax your muscles, breathe.

Stage confidence can be built & if a singer has awesome vocal talents, it's half the battle won.

To me a good singer is one who commands the stage& own it. Someone who entertains, who connects with the audience& leaves them in awe while enjoying themselves. Someone who can render the apt emotions to the different songs...

someone despite hell ( like technical fault, bad crowd ) remains calm, composed & cool.
