what type of ibanez guitars are good for beginner? Saw one at swee lee priced at about $550. Would there be any discount?
is it worth it if i buy that model? Not sure of what is the model but think should be one of the cheapest models of ibanez there
Just started learning a while back and now planning to get a electric one... not sure how and what to choose...

Thanks guy =)

There are actually quite a few good Ibanez's suitable for beginners. Check out the RG321 and the SZ range. Mainly hardtails, save you the hassle of string change. Most of the Ibanez's out there come equipped with floyd roses, which can be a terror to beginners. But if you don't mind the challenge, heh, give them a go! By the way check out the Gear News in which subversion has listed and posted information on guitars which you might be interested in.

Wow... beginners like me cant understand those terms which u used... How much are those which u mentioned? and what are floyd roses?

So may I know what does that floyd roses do?? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it?

And how do i need to take any precautions or any extra steps while changing the strings or tuning the guitar?

Ok you might want to check these links out:

http://www.floydrose.com/bridges.html

Some of the advantages and disadvantages i can think of a floyd rose

- Good tuning stability (except the lo trs)
- Raise and lower pitch, more than that of what normal tremolo systems can achieve

Disadvantages

- Restringing is a chore, setting up is worse
- Snap any string, and the rest go off tuning (unless its the Ibanez ZR tremolo system, or if you have a hipshot tremsetter installed)'

Check out the above link on the hipshot tremsetter. Slowly read up, it'll help widen your knowledge bout all these bridge related stuff

Yes, I agree with the Ibanez reccomendations. Floyd Roses may be a chore to maintain, but don't let it stop you. You're probably gonna have to restring a floyd rose sooner or later, so why not now?

Just to add on to what Poo has said, Floyd Roses allow you to do all sorts of effects. Just listen to any Steve Vai song. Tremendous raising and lowering of pitch, and stays in tune better than regular vintage trems.

On the other hand, floyd roses are a bitch to mantain your first time round, unless it's the Edge Pro which I use. Takes me on avergae now about 5 - 10 minutes for a string change. Took me half an hour my first time.

Also, whether you want a tremolo depends on your playing style. Your first guitar pretty much depends on your style. But I must agree that both the reccomended models are excellent. If you have a bit more cash to spare, I reccomend the Ibanez Ergodyne EDR series. Body follows that of the JS Singnature series, and it is very comfortable, believe me.

I had a feeling that was coming.

So... just to irritate Dhalif a little bit more...

Hehehhehehehehehhe sorry lol. cant resist.

Can some one explain to me whats the difference between a beginner guitar and an advanced guitar?? What would happen if a beginner player tries to play with an advanced guitar :smt107

From what I know, difference between a beginner guitar and "pro" guitar is that the beginners guitar is something like a budget range.

Nothing wrong with a beginner playing an advanced guitar, just shows that he has cash to spare =P

An example i can think of an "advanced" guitar is one with a scalloped neck and light gauge strings. A beginner would most probably screw up due to the lack of control of the instrument. Screw up big time too :D

True that. Not to mention 7 stringers. Or with wierd ass options like a Fernandes sustainer and pull push controls that a beginner would have no idea how to use.

Another way of looking at it is that beginner, entry level guitars try their best to cater to a wide range of tones, while as the guitars get more expensive, so to speak, their sounds kinda like get specialised.

specialised ur head la hahahaa... @$@$*$ the most simple guitar i can think of is a samick strat.. nothing fancy.. just a guitar. advanced guitar will be some neck thru floyd rose stuff.. with piezo.. 8 pickup positions.. coil tap.. and alot of fancy pancy shit...

Whaaaaaaaat... True wad.... especially when you get round to the super high end? That's what I think, anyway, the higher up the chain you go, the more specialised the instrument.
