BBeast pickup routing

The featured instrument is a Yahama BBeast and it will be routed to fit some EMg 40 DC pickups.

As I don't have a ready template for the pickup, I had to make one. Step one is on the top right followed by step 2 where I used a jigsaw to cut out the rough shape. The cavity is then trimmed to size with a router and the pickup fits nicely in the template. Routing starts.

On the right you can see the routed cavity. The bass is then wired with an aguilar obp-3 preamp. It was a particular challenging routing job as the top of the guitar is concave. Hence, a thick laminate had to be used as a template.

Thanks, I take if you like what you see.

However, there are really no crash courses. Get some wood working books from your library, get some wood scraps and invest in a plunge router and you'll be able to do it it in no time.

Or you can do it renegade style with a 'shoot the bugger' mentality. Then when you think you are good enough, open a shop declaring you can do 'repairs'. :p
