Battery died too fast

Hi guys, recently I bought a Beta Aivin pedal. It came with a new battery.

However, when after playing it for about an hour, the battery went dead. I changed to a new one thinking that the battery might be faulty.

Later while jamming, it happened again. The new battery went dead as well.. in less than an hour.

Is the pedal faulty or is it normal for certain pedal to consume so much power tha batteries don't last more than an hour?

I know that I can use a power adapter. I just want to make sure if its normal for this to happen. In case I want to sell this pedal, and I don't want to sell a faulty item to anyone.

hope someone can help me with this.

i suppose the battery is a 9v?
it isint suppose to die out that fast.
thats way too fast.i think lol.

hmm im no pedal master but thats way too fast.
probably gotta bring down to the shop and ask them for help.

May I know what pedal is that? Is it digital delay? I did experienced this on my boss digital delay/pitch shifter. And from my knowledge, certain pedal preferably use adapter cause battery life won't last long for them.

It a bass chorus pedal. and I did bring it back to the shop. The people from the shop tested it and it died on them too.. although the battery in the pedal was not a new one.. it died within 15mins. They then tested it with an adapter, and it worked fine.

They told me that its normal for certain pedals to consume a lot of power. The Digital Delay for example. I took their word for it cos they've never sold me bad items before.

err of course with adapter u will confirm and will have 100% power.
will i guess some pedals consume more power than others.
my md-2 dist pedal im using for about 2 weeks with the 9v battries and its still running.

What's the mA or current draw? A OD pedal can be 3-5mA while a Boss DD pedal could be in the 60s. A Boss CEB3 draws 18mA.

But an hour is pretty darn quick.

Ya, I think it's damm too quick. Could it be due to a poor soldering of the batt. wires that cause intermittent contact on the negative and positive point/wires. Well I'm just guessing.

Yup, I would say it's really quick how the battrey is used up.

Get a power supply. You won't have any problems with batteries running out. :)

Pretty high, if you take the Boss comparison.

I had an Ibanez chorus thing that ate batts every two days. But if a DD3 can be twice that amount of power yet not decay a battery an hour, your pedal is a lemon.....

Do you leave the cable plugged into the pedal when you're on your way to the studio? If so, then that's the cause of the uber fast battery consumption. If you're not using the pedal at home, don't leave the cable jack plugged into your pedal.

ya do not leave the cable plugged into the input socket.
output is fine but dont leave yur cable in the input socket.
DRAINS POWER FROM THE BATTERY PERIOD.

Yeah, I'm aware about the results of leaving a cable plugged into the input socket of a pedal. I only plug in the cable when I'm using the pedal. Thats when the battery died out, during practise at home and jamming.

I guess I must have bought a lemon huh? The shop also don't want to replace it as they see nothing wrong with it.

Thanks guys for your opinions and advise. I won't be selling the pedal to anyone anytime soon and if I do, I would recommend a power supply when using it.

I'd definitely recommend a power supply... My biggest worry is that I'll run out of battery on-stage and be in deep trouble. I also use a Beta Aivin pedal but I use a power supply so I have never had problems (except when I used a supposedly well-recommended adapter that produced so much feedback and nearly killed me through electrocution!).

Hi, sorry to hijack others thread :)...i hv the same problem with my Boss DD-3, in the end i use power supply. But my problem now is when using power supply, the LED is lighted in ON mode but no effect (no delay or seems like in off mode), the delay only working when i use battery. Is the pedal something wrong?

What power supply are you using? Have you tried other daisy chain inputs to power the DD3? You could find Randolf or Seekz if it's a electrical problem.

I'm using a normal power adaptor 400mA output and external daisy chain to connect the DD-3 & other efx. i tried on DS-2 and CS-3 and it works pretty fine, the problem is only with DD-3. But the funny thing is it works with battery, so i thought the problem might be on the DD-3.

Sorry, i never had electrical problem, where can i find Randolf or Seekz? Thx in advance
