Battery Compartment

Hey guys,

I've been using my bass for quite some time already and sometimes when i'm playing the bass, it gives off a cracking sound and it suddenly just goes off without a sound. I have found out the problem to be with the battery compartment. Apparently, the battery compartment is slightly bigger than the battery and thus it allows the battery to "move" and not stick to the metal conductors of the battery compartment. Though i have stuffed paper into the battery compartment, i don't think its a permanent solution as occasionally the connection between the battery and the conductor will get loose. I was thinking of changing the whole battery compartment once and for all so that it solves my problem, however i'm not sure if it'll damage the body of the bass. Do you guys have any recommendations?

could it be the contacts for the battery terminals have been bent in too much? ever tried bending the contacts down abit to see is the battery secured?

hmm.. it looks normal for now.. not bent too much.. well, i've been "pushing" the battery upwards towards the contacts by using paper, instead of "pushing" the contacts down because of fear that i might break the contacts off.. so yeah.. but "pushing" the battery upwards in just a temporary move right? I was looking for a more permanent solution.. but thanks for the advice anwyay
