figured it must be a 6-string bass. You can bring to Beez at G77 ... he can do a nice setup for you. I have no experience with adjusting two truss rods but figured it'll be the same as handling one ...

Try SGH......that is Sinamex Guitar Hospital......don't know how much but been wanting to send my BTB there.....haven't got the time

SGH is pretty X, i heard just the service charge is about 70 bucks, and that exclude the repairs.
So i was thinkin anyone willing to share how to DIY.

A twin-truss rod system helps to offset the difference in tension exerted by different strings. This is more evident in 5+ string basses and 'wide-space' 5's.

What I did with adjusting the dual-trusses on a 6-string bass was to treat the neck as 2 seperate groups of 3 strings. so the bass-side truss adjusts the relief on the B/E/A strings, and the treble for the D/G/C strings. Try to find a happy compromise between the two. Assuming you know the basics of neck-relief adjustment, this shouldn't cause you too much trouble.

Rule of thumb still remains: if the bass feels good, don't adjust it, and if the truss rod adjuster is too stiff to turn by hand without using body weight, take it to a tech.

Hope this helps.

Guys thks for all the help. :D

Buzzes evenly or only in a certain range? Generally if it buzzes in the middle then your urm rod is too tight. If it buzzes in the upper ranges then its too loose. If it buzzes in the first 3 frets your nut is cut too low. (This is starting to sound really dodgy).

If it buzzes evenly all up the neck you're John Entwistle.

If you tighten your rod, and you know your nut is not cut too low, but it buzzes intermittently only on the G-string....then....

i'm having fret buzz on all my frets too... but my action is not too low :?

take it to one of our FRIENDLY softies here..

and maebe he/she may be able to identify or better still rectify the problem.

Just to add on... if it buzzes in the middle, loosen the truss rod (aka turn 1/8 anticlockwise) to give more relief to the neck.
There's also the tilt of neck which needs to be adjusted besides the truss rod. slotting in a small piece of a used phone card does help (depending on where it's place between the neck and body).

Important thing to note when doing truss rod adjustment is to loosen all the strings first. after setting the neck, it takes a few days to 'stabilize'.

Pain in adjusting dual truss rod is to get the D string at a comfortable action coz it's the middle string for my bass.

I think it's a BTB neck-thru we're dealing with here, right? I saw your photos on the other thread. I played the Prestige for awhile as well, if you're really stumped I could give you a hand and teach you how to adjust it...once thru is enough, really. I work 9-5 weekdays, so drop me a PM if you're really stumped. I'm near Boon Keng MRT.

question: i want to adjust my string action. should i adjust my strings' saddle height, the truss rod, or both? And how sensitive is the truss rod? turn how many degrees a time?

thanks! (in advance)

depends ... first you have to check whether you neck is warped... as in seriousl curved.. a LITTLE curvature is okay, don't have to be perfectly straight .. but check the neck relief first... adjust as necessary and then check whether it's the action you want ..

if not then adjust the saddle height ... =) ..

not sure if this is correct but it kinda works well for me.

to adjust action i fret the string on the first fret (with left hand) and after the last fret (with right elbow). this makes the string straight over the first to last fret. then i tap the string in the middle of the fretboard. it should sound like it's hitting the frets and not flush on the frets but the gap between the strings and the frets shouldn't be noticable only the sound tells you that it's not touching.

then adjust string height and intonation. works pretty well for me. hope it's not too confusing.

nope! not too confusing. right elbow, left hand, tap middle of fretboard... requires a bit of hand acrobatics man.

thanks for the tip
