Bass Fx

btw, does anyone know how to achieve an "airy" sound esp during slap pop lines, kinda like a "baaaoo" tone that rings, sounds abit like a synth sound but played on a bass... kinda like a wah-wah pedal sound too... any ideas? i cant rmb where i heard it, but im pretty sure i heard it b4...

chorus/phase pedal?

anyway my rig is pretty simple... bass-> ehx whitefinger compressor -> boss odb-3 -> hartke DI

not so much effects as signal processors i guess.

An other Harkte Bass Attack User? Cool =)

My rig Bass -> Yamaha NAthan East EQ -> Boss Bass Limiter/Expander -> Hartke Bass Attack

I'm thinking of getting a reverb, a delay and a wah to complete the set =)

It's super good! Especially if you use it as a DI box. Makes your tone thru the P.A sounds rounder, warmer, more bass like instead of the thin, sterile sound of normal DI boxes.

When u use it thru a bass amp, it opens up the sound by alot. It's quite a cool pedal!

But too bad, it's out of stock at Luther Music, I think City Music also.

Sigh

The Hartke Bass Attack is a Preamp / DI box.

You can use it to control your tone with the following functions:

Level -> Volume
Bass -> Boast / Cut Bass
High -> Boast / Cut High
Harmonics -> Stimulate a tube amp. Max it out to have a griddy / fuzzy distortion sound
Brite -> Presences for the Harmonics
Shape -> Paramatric EQ that cuts the Frq

The on/off switch turns on /off the Harmonics and Brite

The Shape switch turns on/off the shape

It's quite good as it allows you to shap your sound before it goes to the bass amp as a preamp and also allows you to use it as a D.I box that will give you almost similar sound to a bass amp.

That is something that not all DI boxes can do unless it's a Bass DI w Preamp like a MXR 80, SAnsamp Bass Driver etc

Cheers

sounds interesting... its out of stock currently? =(

i run my bass thru a Boss ME-50B, has EQ, compressor and all the fx i need right now... (thot of getting the Ibanez bass synth pedal, does anybody have that?)
Prataz, do u think the hartke bass atk wud still b useful for me since i already have a multifx floorboard with semi-parametric EQ and compressor? :D

Dear Bro, I think it's damn cool lah! If the ME-50B has line-out, you can even use it straight into PC for recording or mixer etc.

If you go outside gigs and will be using DI boxes, use the phone out or line out to connect to the DI box. It will give u better tone! Tried and tested it with a ME-50 for guitar. It should be similar for Bass.

In short, leave the rest of the stocks for ppl with out multi effects? hahaha =)

But it's quite a good pedal to have =)

Is the white finger good? Looking ard for better compressors apart from the Boss Expander /limiter

Cheers

haha yeah, i got mine before luther started shipping it in. cost me $40 on shipping charges but i guess it was worth it. i'm thinking of upgrading to the sadowsky preamp but i haven't tried it out yet so :/ havent tried the sansamp bddi, but i'm really digging the mid scoop right now so yea.

i was shooting at baybeats on sunday as a press photographer and i saw zhen's bassist using a GT-6B. didnt know it had so many cool stuff! her tone was awesome man.

anyway the harmonics bit is really good but you can't turn it off/on and keep the same volume level... so i got the odb-3.
