Bass Driver

Hi

I have a 20 year old Ibanez 5 string bass and was told the signal is soft - naturally.

so was asked to look for a bass driver/booster pedal.

Did some research and am thinking of the following:
1. Bass Driver Deluxe DI Pedal @ 260SGD 2nd hand or
2. BNIB Joyo California (Amp Sim) SGD 60
3. Tech 21 GT2 SansAmp GT2

Please adv as I am confused.

Thanks

An older bass usually has low output pickups (not always the case but usually). There are a couple of options for that. Upgrade the pickups and add a preamp, or get a pedal, or both.

As for the pedals you mentioned, I'm currently using the Sansamp Bass driver (not the deluxe version). I can get my tone from it. From nice and warm to punchy driven tone. Never used the Joyo before. However the Sansamp GT2 is made for guitar so it probably won't sound good with bass. My advise is go with the Bass Driver (deluxe or normal). You won't go wrong with it.

Good advice, willbassyeahindo.

There are many good bass boost/preamps around, good to bring your bass down to try. Some of my favourites - VT Bass, Darkglass Vintage, RMI Clean Boost.
