Hi Guys, Im Looking For A New Amp, I Live In A Small HDB Flat Around 4th Storey :x So Any Suggestion About The Maximum Wattage That I Should Get? The Main Concern Is That Neighbours Will Complain :P And High Electricity Bill Haha. I Heard Anything Below 75 Watts Isnt Really That Good, True? Dont Really Know Much About Amps! Hope You Guys Pros Can Help Me Out? :D Thanks!

volume is adjustable so it depends on your price range i guess. if your worry is save money on electricity than i should tell you a normal lightbulb use up about 70 watts of power, an air conditioner use up about 2000watts of power. just get a decent medium level 200watt bass amp. My recommendation will be hartke, Gallien Krueger or Ampeg. Depend on your needs and what type of song you play though, Hartke is nice but mine is noisy (maybe because i bought it 2nd hand). GK is known for its aggressive tone, ampeg is known for its warm tone. Roland or Line6 is okay but i rather buy a pandora mini for practise.

I'd stick to any reasonably big amp for practise unless it dead quiet in the middle of the night and you had the urge to touch your bass guitar, then use a Pandora Mini for practise with earphone.

However said that, I'd still prefer to stick my earphone into the amp for practise at night, then you don't have to spend even more money for a pandora, or anything else similar, just for the sake of practising at late nights.

Frankly, you really don't have to worry much about the noise because as long as you adjust the volume of the amps to a sound level at your usual listening level on your television, who is to complain its too loud ? ( provided its not dead quiet in the middle of the night, of course ).

:)

If you're concerned about disturbing your family / neighbours, the following helps:
- Elevate the amp off the floor. There are amp stands for smaller amps (typically for guitar amps), otherwise a stool, box, shelf etc.
- Get a tilt-back and point it at your head so you can hear better without having to raise the volume.
- Dial down the lows on the EQ, since that's the thing that'll travel through floors/walls. Mids and highs, just keep the doors/windows closed. Tone will suffer of course, but if you're just practising technique then tone isn't that important. If you're tweaking tone... do it in the day, or use headphones.

Unless you leave your amp on 24/7, electricity is hardly a concern. But then again, if you leave your amp on 24/7... you'll have bigger concerns than electrical consumption :p.

24/7 is addiction....
No... is fetish liaoz... hehe:p

thanks for the tilt up idea, never cross my mind about that though .. +1
