Bad bend habit!!!

Usually when you bend lets say on the 3rd string (G) with your ring finger:

----------------------------------1st
----------------------------------2nd
------7b9------------------------3rd
----------------------------------4th
----------------------------------5th
----------------------------------6th

does the ring finger go under the 4th string or over? Or does in push it along? I have this habit when bending, my bending finger would go under the string above the bent string. Is this common? Would in affect my playing? If yes, please suggest ways to kick this habit. Thanks alot, and have a nice day.

eh... use ur index to hold on to the 4th string.. and bend together.. but ur index must mute the strings.... getting ur fingers under the strings is the wrong way of bending...

Thanks
alot, but stillI'm not able to execute it without making excessive noise. And since I'm only twelve, my fingers are not that strong. So, I will need my index finger as a base support while the middle finger and the ring finger to bend, so its not possible for me to make a full bend... Please help.

use index place on both 3rd and 4th string... middle and ring to push the 3rd string while ur index is muting and pushing the 4th... practise from the 12th fret first.... double check a a tone away which is 14th fret to ensure tat u always get the correct bend... slowly... practise is the only way....

actually, your problem can be fixed by lowering your action... with low action, ur strings would tend to go under your fingers rather than above when you bend...

action in which strings tend to go under fingers varies from people to people depending on how tua your fingers are...

another point you might wanna note is your bending technique... try not to do the finger "wave motion". I would describe this as bending with ur fingers moving only, which would scoop the lower stings above your fingers. instead, try bending with a wrist movement and less finger movement, ie, fingers don' move so much but wrist/arms twist about to achieve the bend...

just a suggestion as thats what i do to fix this prob i used to have

Train your fingers stamina.
Everyday you bend like D or G String 1 full note then hold it until your fingers can not take it anymore :D . Clock yourself.
Next time you clock yourself and aim to hold for some time longer than the previous. Something like training jogging stamina when u wanna run 6 laps like 20 seconds faster than the previous try ... :D

I think I heard a guy last time told me about this exercise to keep your fingers stronger. I use the clock thingy just to motivate ourself then

to strengthen wrist and fingers i read somewhere to
barre a fret on the guitar and hold it up during tv
commercials and break when your show starts while
watching tv.

worked for me.

but what if i had dropped my axe!?
*gasp*
