Authenticity of Gibson LP

If you have doubts about the guitar, ask the seller for a photo of the serial number and send it to Gibson. They will be happy to oblige with your request for authentication.

haha yeah guess that will be the most ideal.

Was browsing through all the past threads regarding imitations and the likes, and I guess not having extended time with a solid Gibby (or an imitation per se) kinda keeps me in the category of being ignorant, even though comparisons and minor details were pointed out (headstock, decals etc)

Anyway just wondering, any ink stamped S/N could possibly be removed and replaced with a random authentic S/N yeah?

Truss rod cover and knobs have been changed/are wrong. Looks a bit dodgy tbh, plus the hardware is rusty as hell.

that is a LP Studio LITE.
the TRC and knobs are correct for that model.
very tarnished gold hardware, open coil pickups are all also correct.

here is one in perfect condition.

wow that looks so good, seems like the next owner will have some work to do!

Thanks for clearing the air about this anyway, haven't seen a studio lite around.

most important is to check the routings and electronics because the difference is obvious between one made in the USA and a fake China made one. pickups too.

yeah guess so, but again can't possibly do that on the spot yeah?
its the same old, same old issue on imitations.

was reading the papers, apparently there were iPad lookalikes from China since like 6 mths back!

why not? I mean, if he allows you to use a screw driver to remove the covers, go for it. Not as if you don't know how to put the covers back haha. a messy route is a clear indication that the guitar is made from anyway but the USA. cheap small alpha pots too.
