Just saw this :

http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=S16

@ $300.00 you can not go wrong . I have been looking for something else besides my Digitech GNX4 :

http://www.digitech.com/products/Guitar_Workstation/GNX4.php

One can be bought new for $399.00 . If your a guitar player the GNX4 is for you . Mine cost me $499.00 so this is a great deal on a great unit .

The Carvin has included in that mixer a 45 watt stereo power amp so you can run a set of monitors too . This type unit would allow full miking of as drum set .

Tascams :

@ $399.00 is cool but not as flexible as that Carvin and more expensive that it too . One the plus side , it can record two electric guitars ( bass and regular electric ) beside the 8 XLR microphone channels at once a real cool thing to be able to do . Also I believe it has amp & cabinet modeling too like my GNX4 and full FXs for editing .

My GNX4 is a great unit it can when hooked to a computer give me 4 channels of simultaneous recording and 2 stand alone with a computer . It can record 8 channels though and once you fill those up and m,ix them down the way you want them to sound ( yes you can master a recording onm this unit by itself ) you are able to bounce them into 2 or one track and continue to add additional channels till you are satisfied .

The Tascam and the Carvin are two units I am looking at towards adding some more power in my home studio flexibility . There are bound to be more for me to consider once I have the $ needed to buy one .

This also a consideration too :

@$499.00 is the priciest with a similar operation as the Tascam .

Good luck
