Hi, am looking to get a low-latency audio interface for recording, but have some questions about connecting it to my windows desktop.
Currently I am using the HDMI out of my video card to an AV receiver hooked up to a pretty good hifi and home theatre systems. How can I continue to use this signal path (HDMI->AVR->hifi) to monitor my recordings?
From my experience with using the Zoom G3, the audio interface is recognized as a sound card in windows, and I can get the DAW to take the input from the audio interface for recording, and output/playback through my hifi. However, I am unable to monitor either using direct monitoring (since no speakers are connected to the audio interface outputs) or through my hifi (understand there will be slight latency).
Any way around this? If using SPDIF out from audio interface to AV receiver, would I be able to monitor directly without switching my playback device?
Finally does anyone have any USB or PCI audio interfaces to recommend for windows (budget $800 max)? Main priorities are 4 analogue inputs (2 Hi-Z) and low latency, DAC quality is irrelevant assuming I am using SPDIF out to my AVR.
Thanks, appreciate your advice.
