Assigning MIDI channels to NI FM8

Hi all,

I'm currently having trouble assigning MIDI channels for NI FM8 to sync which my Cubase 4 AI as there isn't any midi channel assigning on the FM8 interface. (see screenshot below) . I really would like to record several sounds from the FM8 vsti on my Cubase but can't seem to assign different MIDI channels to sync with my Cubase 4 AI.

This is unlike my Garritan 4 whereby the MIDI channels are shown clearly on the interface and all I needed to do was make sure the midi channels for Garritan and Cubase are the same. For example Garritan midi channel 1 - Cubase midi channel 1 & Garritan midi channel 1 - Cubase midi channel 1)

Hope to get some answers from the people here. :)

I haven't used FM8 for a while. Can't remember. Will try it later today after work and check for you.

But one easy way around it is to open multiple instances of FM8. It may take up extra resources though.

Oh dear. Sounds like an upgrade is pending...

I'll check and let you know of FM8 does multiple midi channels.

I highly doubt NI FM8 is multi-timbral. Haven't used it in a bit, but unless you can route the Operators to different MIDI channels, I don't remember seeing any multi-timbral option.

Your best bet, as Cheez mentioned is to upgrade Cubase and open multiple instances.

Good Luck.

You could just render the track to audio, close the vsti and open a new one. You can save your preset and keep the midi notes in case you need to make changes later.
