Aspiring Electric Guitarist

As the title says, I would like to pick up the Electric Guitar and I can say my passion for it is overwhelming but my pocket seems to be burnt.
I'm planning to learn from online videos but I found myself with a problem.
I need an Electric Guitar first!

My budget is about $500 and I hope someone can give me some advice as to where to buy and whats good. Since I don't know much about guitars, please pardon my ignorance as I may not understand fully how it works or any technical jargon. What I am looking for is a good beginner guitar that is within costs and advice on the necessary guitar accessories needed to start. I did some googling and was wondering if a Squier Fat Stratocaster is a good choice and where can I get it?

I am also curious about whether I would trouble my neighbours but I've heard of headphones and would like to know more.

I would also like your opinion on the squier deal here: http://www.soundalchemy.com.sg/promo.html
and this SX GG1k one too: http://soft.com.sg/forum/guitar-reviews/13272-sx-gg1k.html

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it!!

Get a used epiphone les paul. Great guitar but abit on the heavy side, think i saw a standard going for 450 here. Go try out a couple of guitars to see what kind you like. Your gonna need an amp too, some come with the headphone jack some dont, look around.

Thanks but I'm looking for specific details such as what brand/model and most importantly, where can I find them in Singapore?

Thanks for your advice. I've decided to go for a Epiphone Les Paul Special 2 at SV. However, I'm still deciding on a good starter amp.

Should I get that $80 Ibanez amp promo at swee lee or the $165 Nux as you recommended?

Thanks a lot btw ;D!

Personal choice, if I can rechoose my first guitar I will definitely go for something simple that is of decent quality. For the price of that epiphone I really don't know what quality you're getting, don't get it just for the name, if can try out other low level guitars and then decide. But my first choice of Squier Deluxe Fat Strat was pretty good. Oh ya, and never get a cheap guitar that has a floating bridge like some Gio's. You will probably be turned off from playing guitar ever again.
