Apple or Creative?

Okay I know it's kinda late for someone to buy an IPOD now but I just can't wait for my first paycheck to come. As a result , I'm contemplating on getting either an IPOD (mini or nano) or Zen?

I'll probably be looking at battery life and user friendiness.

I would really appreciate it if you all could give me a price range for these 2 products...

Thanks a lot for helping someone who is a dummy when it comes to technological knowledge.... :D

im goin to buy a zen neeon or zen micro end of the mth...so its creative for me...support good local product...

IPOD has a fixed internal battery, which equates to replacement once that battery wears out. Be forwarned.

i always feel apple ipods have a simple and easy user interface as compared to the zens. but battery life wise, def the creative.

can always check out the second hand market for all those people who made impulse buys. great deals

Yeap. You will have to get a new one once the battery wears out.

Creative is a better investment IMO. They're the fathers of computer audio technology, they're local and yeah, they're creative. They've seriously packed alot of features on their products.

Ipod on the other hand, has good overall capacity and integrity, but yeah, the focus seems to be only cosmetics. You're gonna listen to your mp3 player, not wave it around, so cosmetics woulden't matter than much would it. Its also more costly, and I've heard of compatibility issues with windows.

i'm against built in batteries...
but between IPod and Creative, i'd say creative...
dunno abt creative, but a friend of mine already had problems with her one month old ipod.
i'd say get a zen. yerp.. :D

For me I'm the direct opposite. I against AA/AAA batts cause I have to constantly buy them to sustain my daily audio habits and I usually travel from one end of the island to another so I need my mp3 player to keep my company.

hmmmmm...

i've been using my iPod for the last 1.5yrs. its been good so far. i'm left with less than 4gig of the 40gig it comes with. i love it so much. i'll recommend the iPod anytime. its straightforward and simple to use. no compatible problm with windows too. the problm is the battery lifespan, 8-10hrs on a single charge. the newer ones might have a longer batt lifespan.

abt the zen, i'm not so sure how good it is coz i've never tried one personally.

AIYA.. i bought a zen mircophoto! so stop calling me ipod girl. Hmm i love it.. cost around the same price as a ipod nano.. it actually cost around 450, but i manage to use my oh-so-aunty bargain skills and got it at 420.

-You can store up to 8gbs of songs/photos
-MAN you got to love the colour screen, it's much more nicer the nano's colour screen. 262,144 colour OLED display. I store so much john mayer photos inside. hahaha.
-Comes in 20 colours.. i got a black one
-It's really nice, cus it has a blue glowing light. woo
-Removable battery. hmm life span.. i'm not very sure how long it can last la.. but it says 15hrs on the package box
-extras: FM radio, Recorder
-and you got to love the quality earphone.

one thing, i love the navigation too. easy navigating. Luckily i didnt get the neeon.. dont really like the troublesome navigation.

Creative has very good after sales service, you just have to register your product online and you are cover for warranty. They gave me a 1 for 1 exchange when my creative muju mp3 player has on/off power button trouble. When I was at the service centre I saw this guy exchanging his cracked earphone for a new one.

cheers

erm ipod nano, the transparent can be scratched real dam ezily, i juz put in my pocket ( only ipod inside my pocket, nothing else no keys or someting ), and took out and the screen is full of scratches. also too if u use yr normal cloth to wipe u will get alot of scratches!

and some info i got from some website, im not the only one.

According to a majority of the posts to the site, the music player's 1.5-inch color screen is unacceptably prone toward marring, with many buyers saying that they had gone to lengths to protect the music players, only to find that their Nanos still got nicked.

Some individuals commenting on the issue said the problem appeared almost from the moment they first removed their iPods from the manufacturer's packaging and peeled off the film-like plastic that covers the screen during shipping.

"I've had my Nano for a little over two weeks and it scratched right when I took off the little plastic on the front," wrote a poster identified as Young Lim. "At first I thought this was just a smudge so I used my cotton t-shirt to try to rub it off, but that start(ed) to scratch it even more."

Lim went on to say that after carrying the Nano in the pocket of some cargo shorts, the device showed even more blemishes, leaving the buyer feeling "disappointed and betrayed" by Apple, especially since the poster had observed impressive durability from earlier, and cheaper, iPods. One Nano owner has already gone to the trouble of creating a Web site to detail his issues with the screen scratching issue.

if u still intend to get nano, then dun peek of the sticker, the screen is unbelievely fragile, really regret, and the scratches kind of reflect the colour, now i view photo also quite blur  wasted 400 dollars juz like tat

forget to mention, ITUNES, freaking irrating. u need to install itunes, i think require windows sp2 or sp1 ( not too sure). which mean its not drag and drop like creative. AND, if u use another different computer, u need to reset yr ipod ( which mean del away all yr songs) before u can upload songs from a different computer.
