Anybody heard Strandberg guitars?

I first came across this luthier's work via Tosin Abasi. Really nice work, love the fact that he really thinks about the ergonomics of the design.

Check out Rick Toone's work as well! http://www.ricktoone.com/
Great art, design and functionality.

Would be great if we could see some more affordable versions of designs along the same lines/concepts and a shorter waiting list on the market.

Infact i am trying to get Strandberg guitars to do a one off mass production 7 string for the fellow softie in singapore... but i guess we would need at least 10 pieces for a kick start of such mass production... but i'll have to wait for Strandberg guitar upon approval... what do you guys think? would you be interested? i am thinking of the specs tentatively below..

7 string bolted on
Body: Swamp ash Chambered with Maple Burl top
Neck: Rosewood/purplehearts or wenge/purplehearts
Fretboard: Birdseye maple
24 frets
scale: 26.5-25.5

Hmmm sounds good but I'm sitting on the fence about the multi-scale/fan frets thing lol... Have you tried that before? Just kinda worried I won't be able to get used to it/like it... Other than that, if the price is at a good discount, I would definitely consider.

good news so far... i have gotten a message from strandberg's sales basically he could do us a run of 10 piece with specs mentioned and it would be off from their production factory which means its going to be made in USA instead of from sweden where you getta full custom of your choice..anyway just to getta bottom line..

lets see how well this thread runs if we get enough interstee and i'll we would pull the run of 10 pieces for singapore.

specs would be like:

7 or 6 string (But prefered the 7 IMO)
bolted on construction
Body: Swamp ash Chambered with flame maple top
Neck: Rosewood/purple hearts or wenge/purplehearts
24 frets
scale: 26.5-25.5
fixed bridge

price would be in USD about 2500 less ship

lets all see how it works out for us in singapore soft forum ;)

Note: For wholehearted guitar freak only once your in with count of 10 intrestee we would lock it up and no back off.we'll get a moderator once this thread gets serious and all payment would be made to USA the sales department itself.

yes is just a very small slant for a 26.5-25.5 fanned scale... have not tried it personally but if your interested you would have to be prepared to aspect different feel from a normal guitar,,

the neck is shaped unsual to suit the grip supposedly to be said as egronomics

but we'll see how the crowd be like it has to offer to majority here but again a 6 string wouldnt need to be multi scaled else a 7 would more likely to be.. partly is because i play 7 here? but ill try not to be too selfish lol

Oh shucks if I saw this earlier I would have helped you spread word around, but I actually did manage to get in on the production on my own, and will be getting mine around early april. Will post pictures and maybe a video or two. :)

Ok after a 6 month wait, the Strandberg Boden 7 is finally here! Mine come with a custom requested ebony fretboard, that's the only difference aside from the rest of the production models...to the pictures!

The Endurneck profile.

A comparison of the size of the Boden with the Iceman 7-string. The Boden is super light.

The luminlay side dots.

wow thats very nice guitar ... is the neck thin ? or does it have any thickness to it other than the egronomic designs of the endur neck?

Well, i don't think you can say if the neck is thick or thin. It's a profiled neck and depending on how you fret, the neck feels unique all along the length of it. In a good way of course, it feels very natural.

It's my first encounter with fanned frets as well. I adjusted to this combination of fanned frets and the Endurneck pretty quick and surprisingly, it's really easy to play.

One example would be, i don't usually play scales in a box pattern across all strings because it is hard to pinky the lower strings (esp. for a 7 string configuration). But this guitar made such playing effortless and i actually enjoyed stretching towards the lower strings. I kept going at it because the profile enables you to curl your thumb nearer to the fret board and hence increasing your stretch.

cool thanks for sharing your experiences and is a sexy guitar indeed...wats the scale like of yours ?
