Hi guys, anyone tried buying and shipping in guitars from musiciansfriend? Is it reliable? Cuz the price is much cheaper than the retail guitars right here

I live in KL but work in Singapore, like all places KL has good and bad, in general not cheaper than Singapore and in most cases I find KL to be more expensive. CK music is linked to City Music and prices are the same, but guitar choice at CK is very limited. Yamaha acoustics in KL are 25% cheaper than Singapore but their electric guitars are more expensive.
The great convenience of Singapore is going to Bras Basah or Peninsular and having 15 shops in one place. In KL you'd be lucky to see 3 shops in a day.

I've only bought 1 guitar online in my life but didn't regret it fortunately. Yes price was cheaper but I was also willing to do a lot of self-setup and replaced the stock pickups with some weird wiring configs. If it were to be an expensive guitar then i'd think carefully although for semi-custom brands like Tom Anderson (ie where you need to customise some models) i'd do online.
Not sure about "ship to SG only if second hand" however do make contact with the retailer if possible by email/phone. I've bought accessories online and nothing (touch wood) has been wrong. Do your research especially import/duty tax considerations. All resources are online so just take your time. If it's a common model that's available elsewhere don't rush the purchase as there's a good chance of abundant stock.

i bought stuff from Musiciansfriend, guitars included. the listed prices are outright attractive but the shipping charges kills. it's like adding 40% of the guitar price just for shipping. do keep this in mind unless what you wanna get from this site is something you really want & you are not too bothered by supplementary charges.
