Have a serious look at Ovations. Their low end ones that are made in China or Korea is very very well built and sweet sounding. They may be a little bit more expensive than $300 but I think it's worth it.

Yo man, i'd recommend a Cort Earth-70 (found at swee lee), Its a great guitar, good tone and definitely within your budget!
