Any of you use electric guitar amps for acoustic?

A friend has an acoustic guitar with a pickup, I'd like to buy him an amp. Do any of you use your regular electric guitar amp with an acoustic? I know some people swear by dedicated acoustic amps, but what difference do you hear in real life, given the presence of the high freq driver on the acoustic amps? When played indoors at low volume, is there really a big diff?

Edit: What acoustic guitar amps are recommended here in Sg? 10-15w, home practice...

I use an electric guitar on my acoustic guitar amp. It sounds alright to me. However, I do not know if its the same the other way round.

None of the standard electric guitar amps were able to accurately reproduce the clean clear tones of the acoustic, they would each colour the guitar tone with the amp's own characteristic flavour. Marshalls were bad, Roland was better, laney was sort of OK.

In the end, I landed up with a Kustom sienna 16. The sound is really hi-fi, the quality is very accurate and there is no flavour added to the true tone of the guitar. Not surprisingly, it handles electric guitars extremely well too.
