Any luthier who does routing for floating bridges?

im thinking of getting a kahler 2300 series studmount for my guitar (which is a tune-o-matic at the moment) probably at the end of the year. I hope they'll be available by then.

anyway, it requires a 1/2" deep T shaped routing on the body, at the bridge area. I dont dare to do it myself, even if i have the tools, so im leaving it to be done by a luthier.

so does anyone know anyone who can do it. Knowing the operation of a kahler bridge would be a plus, as they're pretty uncommon compared to floyds.

thats not enough

need something i can whammy hard

the reason i chosed kahler is because it has the feel of a tuneomatic, which i like. And when you palm mute, it doesnt make the strings go flat, since the rollers are fixed and only the cam moves at the back moves up and down.

Also, the kahler needs less routing on the guitar compared to a floyd rose (doesnt need any routing at the back for springs and whatnot, just a 1/2" deep "T" on the body), so less wood is taken out, minimal change to the tone. You can still dive bomb with it though.

Does ur guitar have a backward angled neck? It may prove to be a problem if that's the case. I'm not familiar with the Kahler bridge, but it might not have enough vertical clearance. Safer to do some more research before buying the parts.

yep i did my research, all tune-o-matic guitars have an angled neck for clearance.

btw here's a "kahlered" les paul :)

I see... well, if you like the feel of a tune-o-matic bridge, go for it. :) Do post some pics and provide as much info as you can when its done... Let the masses know how to do it. ;)

Hi Malcolm aka empty71 here. I do not do routing as it goes against my guitar repair and restoration philosophy. I'm sorry I won't be able to help you here :(

Alternatively, you should consider shredcow's suggestion and install the Schaller tremolo.

I installed a schaller trem for TOM bridge recently and it is a good solution to implementing a trem on a fixed bridge. Construction is top notch and tuning stability is pretty acceptable, albeit not as stable as a double locking system.

I can do a rout for you, but personally I would advise against it as you would have difficulty selling it off if u ever grow tired of the guitar. But of course I'm willing to put my own personal inhibitions aside to make a customer happy. Cheers.
