Any info on this Epiphone Junior Model ?

Hi all

I hope this is the correct place to post this question. If it's not, my sincere apologies.

I am trying to get some info on this Epiphone Junior Guitar that I got from my office (it's a long storey :p).

I am a complete Newbie to Guitars and have been using this Epiphone to learn the basic Chords and some simple songs as well.

I have Googled this many times and the only "hit" I seem to get are some small photos of the guitar, but no info on its specs. There is an embossed number on the Epiphone plate on the back of the Guitar, but that also did not get any "hits" in my searches on the Internet. I can't even seem to locate a similar Epiphone model, with only 1 basic Volume control.

What I do know of this Guitar is that it was produced by Epiphone for Electronic Arts (EA) as part of the EA promotion for the Burnout Game. So, it must have been a very limited run.....

Basically, I'm trying to get any info on specs and year of manufacture and a very rough estimate on possible value (as I am thinking of upgrading to a new Guitar later in the year and have no idea what I can expect if I were to trade it in, or possibly list it for sale).

Any info would be greatly appreciated :D

Here are some pics I took of the guitar today (please pardon the dust in the HeadStock photo) ....

looks like it's either a special edition model (given the graphics) or a custom pickguard. the regular version looks like this:

the list price for the regular model is $300 - $350...

Thanks for the reply SubVersion.

Hmm..the shape of the regular version in the pic you posted does look like my Epiphone Burnout. Although mine only has a single Volume Control knob, whereas that Regular Model has 2 control knobs.

that's why there is a need to remove the pickguard to see if there is another cavity for another pot in there. the pickguard also holds the humbucker in place unlike the regular model where a mounting bracket is used.

it cost $300 to $400 here in SG. In US its sold at USD$99. it's made out of plywood, cheap tuners, cheap humbuckers(that surprisingly gets the job done, depending on the music you play), and the output jack will occasionally get loose. trust me, i have been playing this guitar for 4 years, except mine sunburst with the 2 control knobs, and an upgrade pup.

Ahhh...good point, about removing the pickguard to see if there's another cavity.

Any recommendations on where I could get this done ? And approximate cost ? If there is a 2nd cavity, would it be worth it to get it setup ? What does that 2nd knob control ?

Thanks in advance.

Lol...I'll probably try to get that checked out (whether ther eis a 2nd cavity under the pickguard). I'm curious now about that as well.

But until I'm ready to upgrade, I'll probably hang on this Epi. If I shoul ddecide to let it go, I'll get in touch.

Cheers

If theres another cavity, I wouldnt mind buying it from u. if u were to sell it. (:

epi has came up with many of these jr models with different designs. i once had a similar model with green words "Airwaves" on the front. Sold it for 90euros... simple guitar, but packs a punch for the price range imo.. hope that helps!

Well, I carefully removed some of the lower screws of the PickGuard and lifted the PickGuard where the Volume knob is to take a peek.....

That cavity looks pretty big and it does looks like there's room there to put in another knob ( Pot ?) behind where the Volume knob is.

Ok Guys, I know $ Value is very subjective. But if I were to try trading it in at a Guitar store for a "better" model (thinking of a Craftsman GS300 or an Epi Les Paul) any thoughts on how much I can expect to get in trade-in value ?

Thanks in advance

Thanks JustHereToLook.

Still deciding what "better" Guitar to upgrade to....when I'm ready to upgrade.

Guess I'll just hold on to this Epi BurnOut model till I feel I'm ready to upgrade.

Thanks again.

$150. You need to top up at least $350 to get a 2nd hand Epi LP ard here. maybe even more, depends.

I wouldn't suggest getting an Epi LP, IMHO there are better LP copies out there for the price, take the Rally GL300, FGN LP series, the Craftsman you mentioned and K-Garage models for example. None of these have the 'exact' LP tone, but then again, what has the LP tone besides an actual Gibson LP? Epi LPs cannot capture that tone fully.

Thanks LolDude333

Appreciate the recommendations.

Will definitely consider the models you mentioned when I upgrade :)

Cheers

or try the tanglewood series from Tymusic. beats the crap out of the craftsman, k-garage, rally.... any LP copy really. But i still hold highly of the Epi LP, dnt know why.
