any guitar repair courses?

hi,
does any one know whether there's any courses or places where i can learn the trade of guitar repairs and guitar making?i am a guitarist myself but i will like to learn how to repair my guitar...so just wondering whether there's any course available for me to learn how to repair or make guitars in singapore.

Unfortunately no place in Singapore offers such courses. What you can do however is, go to library and borrow some books. You'll be surprised at the selection they have. woodworking books are also applicable. That's what got me started anyway. The rest will come with discipline and desire. Certificates make you look good but what gets the job done is knowledge and the skill to execute this knowledge appropriately, i.e read/study then practice - repeat process for the rest of your life. You'll be surprised at what you can achieve if you do this.

I'm always practical about things, if you have a CPA and don't practice accountancy, you're not an accountant. If you have a law degree but don't practice law, you're not a lawyer. So if you ever decide to get your luthiery cert overseas, remember this: if you and come back and do not build a single thing, you're not a builder either. ]

thanks KC for the advice ....really nice to hear from an experienced personnel like u....though i haven meet u in person though.......i am now playing with a dean michael schenker V where i bought locally....thought of some customization ...but due to the fact of lack of job on hand ...as i am still searching for my job in the music industry ....so now i wun be able to go and see you and customize my guitars.....hehe....anyway,if i got the chance to customize my guitars, will drop down maestro and find u....thanks for the advice again KC=D
