hi guys..if u have read my previous thread, i am gonna buy my first guitar soon..I was originally thinking of getting the sx guitar beginner kit but my reserach showed that sx guitars are not the preferred choice of guitar...so anyone has any suggestions??? i am looking for a kit which includes: guitar, amp, tuner, strap, bag, cable, bag, picks and dvd guide. my budget is no more than $350...please do not ask me to get those real expensive les paul type of guitars as i am only an extreme beginner with no music background at all and i want to find a cheap but decent electric guitar first to know if i am suited or i am really interested in it...i would be heading down to peninsula plaza next week to purchase my guitar but would like to seek de opinion of u guys first since u are more alot experienced than me and sometimes i dun really trust the shop's advice..thanks

There is a Les Paul Special II set over at Swee Lee retailing for about $500.

If you like, I have with me a strat copy with 3 single coil plus a Watson 15 watts amp with clean channel and overdrive channel. Can give you a guitar bag also. I can sell this to you for $350 if you like what you see and hear.

my honest opinion: dont bother with those starter kits.
get a friend who knows at least something about guitars, then scout the 2nd hand ones in the forum. u get a better deal that way. plus there are lots of decent stuff here that go for a good price.
for the same amount of money, u might get better gear and sound better (usually i find that when beginners learn and they feel their sound is not too bad, then they will stick on to learning)

if u really want a starter pack, u could wait till the end of this month in anticipation for a city music sale. they usually have starter packs at reasonable prices during their sale.
