Yeah getting my pay in a few weeks time and planning to spend some on an electric guitar ;D

My budget is around 400 - 500++, and im more particular about how nice the guitar looks. So is there any electric guitar packages that is around something that im looking for?

the issue with starter packages is always the sub-standard amp. if i were you, i'd work within the budget & keep my options open, not obliging to get a packaged deal. here's something to consider:

Guitar: Rally GL300 ($390)
Amp: NUX Mighty 30 ($200)

Total: $590

if your only starting out you may choose to spend more on the guitar and get a smaller (but not substandard) amp
30W amps cannot crank up the volume at home lols :x

Also saw this, can consider also, Fat strat more versatile for beginner Imo, if you want to experiment with whammy one day or go BB King another, strat can last you abit further in beginnerhood. But if ya straight up No nonsense R N F'R Go for the GL300

wah~~~ didnt know that swee lee also have a package tat cheap. =D..
Oh ya.. u can also check out at davis.. they sell ltd guitars in packages as well.. for $299 - $350++.

Just a word of advice: don't skimp on the amp, it really makes a difference in making or breaking your interest in electric guitar. It's pretty dissatisfying to have a great guitar into a dull amp.

Of all the budget amps, I think Sound Drive amps (sold at Standard Value) are affordable yet versatile. Not quite a package recommendation you're asking for, but I hope this helps.

Vox amPlug AC30 with amPlug cabinet... <$100 5W amp the size of 50CD box, , or Marshall microstack MS-4 but twice the size yet double the looks hahaha...

But don't be skeptical with it, i'm using an amPlug AC30 with cab - it sounds very good (and loud enough for bedroom or private party indoor and outside picnic) and the sound came out is pretty noiseless unless plug into cheapo mains adaptor.

Do all the AmPlugs have clean settings? Sorry to hijack. Also, +1 to SD amps.

Turn the volume to near-maximum (8~9), keep the tone at 1-2, slowly raise your gain until you start to hear overdrive then tune down back a little. In my case humbucker normally gain at 2, and single coil gain at 2.5 - 3 due to its weaker signal nature.

Note: This is for AC-30 only, those with other amPlugs you can try but I can't ensure as their settings may vary.

Hmm might be going for this one but is the amp too loud to be played at home?

loud is subjective, it's also not measured absolutely by the wattage rating. buy a lower wattage amp & our mums still think it's too loud. what is the permissible limit?

he he... is there any amp that is acceptable, no complaints from anyone at all? the job of the amp is to increase our guitar signals by many times so it's made audible to us. others often don't understand that an amp has an upper limit, that is, it'll get very loud because that's what it was meant to do, regardless of the wattage. these people are our mums, spouses, neighbours, etc. they don't play guitar, the amp is not part of their embrace.

i've even heard of stories where ppl kena complain just with a ht5... and now im partially contemplating if ht20 would be a potential police bait if imma purchase em : /

knowing when to crank up is also the key to enjoyment.

police will come to tell you to hush up. there won't be any arrest unless you crank up past 11pm...

Well i cant afford to have the police come knocking on my house. The landlord will get upset with me if it happens(yeah im living in a rented house).

i thought the hours were 7am-10pm ... i've read on the NEA site there's actually a limit during the day time too so yea i believe there's a limit to it too.. hmm would be great if someone could clarify if there will be issues with the town council, nea or the police if cranked up during day

he he... nobody is asking you to beckon the police to assess your amp's volume. maybe you should get on with any amp which is to your liking based on the price bracket rather than worrying if it's going to be too loud for any practical use. people who are living in communal apartments are considerate by default; we do not taunt the neighbours & the law intentionally, yes?
