Any Fender Jaguar owners here? I got mine not long ago and it would be nice to know more people who owns this guitar to discuss about this eccentric beast

Its a cool looking guitar. I can't get used to its sound though.. maybe I just too lazy to twiddle with the knobs and buttons..

Ahh...it's a different beast ;) That's the strat-type tremolo, isn't it? And how's the humbuckers? :)

All in all (with shipping), around $1420 from Ishibashi. Mine's a lefty version, so I think it's a little more expensive from the righty ones...but alas, they don't offer block inlays for lefty jags :?

jag

Yep. its the one with the standard tremolos. It sounds ok i guess, but a bit too clean for my taste. Have always preferred the Les paul tone tho. THe reason i got the jag was becos someone sold it cheap....

jag

White Jag? You mean a white Strat? *lol* My Jag is sunburst.
Hmmm...I guess that's him! You've seen him before? For our band, in terms of jamming, we play quite a variety of stuff...from chinese retro to rock to pop to cheesy to Japanese, etc...but our focus now is more on mandarin alt-rock/pop original at the moment.

AH! you're khai! Right? Lol saw ur pic in g77 haha with a lefty jag

ERmmm...I'm not Khai (dun know who he is too ^^), but yeah, my pic is in the g77 website, but it's not a lefty jag I'm holding...it's a righty Jazzmaster (though I'm a lefty holding it in a lefty manner) *lol*

Jaguar

is this thread still alive? any jaguars owners at all here? Am a proud new owner of one. CIJ Jaguar.. would love to talk about setting up, pickups replacements etc.

heh, 3 yrs old thread.

got a cij jaguar baritone, aka bottom master. Guess aint really the usual jaguar sound. But then, its still a fun toy for the lower than geetar, higher than bass sound.

Bro Elias the guy to talk to, for jag stuff. Wait for him to see this thread..again

the bottom, master kills and destroy all guitars.... CHUGGABZZZZTZWEEEEETRRRRRRRCHUGGGAAAABOOOM!

Someone summoned me? *lol*

PatheinRaindropMoe Bro...the baritone Jag's damn cool and I'd surely check one out if they'd ever come out with a lefty version :(

Anyway, Snottysnot, congrats on being a new Jag owner! :) The CIJ Jags are just as lovely once you get past the potential issues with the unpotted Japanese pickups. They do sound different from the U.S ones (a little more shrill and microphonic) but you can either wax-pot them or get replacement pickups from Fender/Seymour Duncan/boutique pickup makers.

With regards to more information about setting up of the Jag, you can check out this post in soft: http://soft.com.sg/forum/gear-guitar/53873-help-needed-cij-jaguar.html

I have attached some useful links in the above thread where you can get tonnes of Jaguar information :) You can also do a search on soft using the keyword: Jaguar. You might also find other useful info here.

Have fun with exploring your new guitar and feel free to post more if you'd need more help (tho can't guarantee I'll be able to answer all lah...but I'm sure there are tonnes of more experienced Jag owners here ^^)

hey Elias..
i've already did a search before posting at this thread.. hehe and yeah, ur post about the jaguar was really helpful.. I've already got a mustang bridge otw shipped from guitarpartsresource.com.Ur right about the bridge pups.. it will kindda squeal and give some feedback when playing in high gain. Am now thinking of ordering a seymour duncan quarter pounder for the brigde after reading good reviews about it in the jag-stang.com forum. Or do u know of any shops here in singapore that sells that pickup? And where can i go, to get them replaced and fixed with the quarter pounds? any recommendations? since not many techs are knowledgeable about them jaguars, i sposed?
I'm gonna leave the neck pickups with the stock one for now, as i'm loving the sound of it. the clean tone is so beautiful.
thanks again, and will wait for ur reply. :)

jaguars are electric guitars.

pickups are electronics.

any guitar tech with enough self respect will be able to just do a pickup swap. ;)

Quarter pounders are pretty hot and loud. I'd suggest to change the pair rather than just one. Davis may be able to order for you else, the internet is always available 24/7.

You can also choose to use regular single coils and not be limited to Jaguar pickups. They all fit and works.

Hey Snottysnot, I'd agree with edder's reply. Pickup swaps shouldn't be much of a problem for guitar techs here. If you'd really wanna make sure, then you can print out the schematics provided by the pickup manufacturer and pass to them as a guide or something. Even though Jaguars have a tad more complicating controls, I think most (if not, all) the techs are able to just trace using the existing pickup wires and do a direct swap/solder :)
For your info, I ordered my U.S Fender reissue pickups from guitarpartsresources and have installed them in both my Jags. I still have a pair of spare Seymour Duncan vintage jag pickups tho.

To add to edder's point on the higher output of quarter pounders, since it's a considerably hotter output pickup, there may be some volume differences if you only change the bridge pickup, do consider that cos you wouldn't want a major drop/rise in volume or something when you switch pickups during a song or something.

If you're also considering other single coil pickups other than the ones designated for Jaguars, you may not be able to fit the metal claw around the pickups...just so you know ^_~ (tho the claw's not a necessary component).
