hi. am new here and i have no idea how to post a thread (not even sure what a thread is) but im trying and im glad to join this forum thingie (ok).

i dunnoe if im posting at the right place but anyway, is there any math rock fans out there? don cabellro, pele, hella, oxes (if these are even categorised as math rock. watever lah.haha)

or even the samual jackson 5 fans (fave), tristeza, unwed sailor?
all of which anti-vocal bands (cept for hella now)

im hoping to start a band, all female actually, to play instrumental almost techy mathy rocky raw stuff (wth). but it's been pretty tough so i can scrap out the all female part.

i just wanna noe if there's any above mentioned fans...i guess, thats the point of this thread. hardy har har

oooh... math rock i like! anti-vocal.. even better!
Heard some of Don Cab's stuff... Not really feeling Tristeza,.. Love Unwed Sailor (are they even math rock?)... absolutely liking Battles (Just saw them in the States in Apr) .. really wanna catch 65 Days of Static (don't even know how to classify.. math/electronic/post??)

anyway you should come check out MONO's gig in Singapore if you're keen. Not math, but more post with a classical bent.

:)

yes! i am going and i cant wait. you actually watched battles?! damn you. haha ok sorry.

and i know it's so hard to classify the bands but god, how i wish i could start a band like that.

c u at mono!!!

I'm into a lot of mathy/post-rock bands. Don Caballero, Pele, Dirty Three, Low, slint, Grails and most of the bands you mentioned are great bands. I watched a live bootleg of 65dos and absolutely can't wait to catch them in action some day.

The Samuel Jackson 5 are a great jazzy post-rock band, I hope they're coming out with new stuff. I think there are quite a few fans of japanese post/math rock here, such as toe, te', LITE, mono, miaou and also Envy, some of which are heading to our region soon.

I heard news of Mogwai releasing an LP soon. As for newer acts, I'm digging some of 'and so I watch you from afar', my dad vs yours, maybeshewill, EF and a lot others..

http://thesilentballet.com is a good site for instrumental/experimental bands, though I don't read it much anymore

edit: e, that girl band you linked are awesome!
