hey,

i'm looking for cheap electric guitar packages for begginers. i've been wanting to start on electric guitar, but i'm tight on budget. not sure abt what brand to get though. any suggestions?

thks. (:

Probably TGM if you really wanna cheap trash that you're getting rid of to upgrade next time. At Ranking. Or i'd go with the Timbre too. And Fina at Davis, call in for a price quote.

i heard of a cool JEM copy at davis, in house made means davis made it, and their headstocks have davis printed on em' instead of, u noe, china made ones, very very cool, i saw it myself, really looked like an ibanez Jem but not much color choice. I think it's abt 285sgd in a package. there are other outlets which have other beginner guitars and are great too such as ranking, and even here in soft...

What do you mean by referring TGM as cheap trash? Let's see if you have a tone that can beat my TGM. Bring it on.

@theunknown: no offence, honest. My first electric was a TGM that had super high action and super lousy intonation. So i have a kinda bad impression of TGM guitars. Still, sorry if i offended you.

you don't sound like you know your gear well.

i've a feeling you might offend the RDPA soon hehehe

I think a setup would have solved those problems, actually. These problems are common and can affect any guitar, regardless of the price point.

TS, what's your budget? I'd recommend a Craftsman guitar package at City Music, but it depends on your budget.

Hmm... I didn't know that at that time, so, i didn't. I was simply just starting out, and i thought it affected low end cheap guitars. I thought most mid-high end guitars would be properly set up already.

Hi sir i would recommend that you buy a second hand guitar that is available at soft as for the amp buy it at soft too .

This is how you do it check out the price of a guitar that is slightly above the beginner package guitar for eg you can get the rally les paul copy or the swing guitar at a price range of $400 first hand then check out the second hand guitar of the same model it should be around $200 so you r actually getting a better quality guitar at a cheaper price but you have to make sure that the guitar is in good condition or if you r not convinced enough about the quality of the guitar have a friend that has some guitar playing experience to accompany you when you r buying the guitar
the same procedure is done for the amp.

The reason why i tell you to buy a second hand guitar is because at the early stage of playing the guitar you are still not sure about the type of tone that you r looking for and you will only know the type of tone that you r looking for at a later stage. Buying a good second hand guitar to me is far better than buying a cheap first hand guitar UNLESS you are going to do some modifications on that particular guitar like changing the pickups and so on...:)

Jumpin'Jellybean: Nah no worries. Just overprotective of the brand of my favorite guitar. It came in correct intonation and setup just right that I needed no more setting up for it. That was from the shop. Maybe the shop did some minor adjustments, not that I know off. Plays well till today, approximately 2.5 years. Exceed the time people say the guitar will last me. Hehe. And yeah, like others say, those minor stuff you mentioned, can be rectified by a setup. Even the high end guitars. Setup to decent settings, yes. But your favourite settings, maybe..
