Local acoustic bands I don't know any but if u want to know some mind blowing stuff here is some:

Acoustic: (Mostly solo fingerstyle)
Don Ross
Billy Mclaughlin
Preston Reed
Doyle Dykes
Martin Taylor (Jazz fingerstyle)

Classical:
LA guitar quartet aka LAGQ
Elliot Fisk (check out his 24 caprices)
Andrew York (fr. LAGQ)
Sergio Assad
Odair Assad
Badi Assad (sister of the Assad Brothers)
Benjamin Verdery

There's just too many to name :D

Hi

I also play acoustic and classical along with my electric.

I have a classical guitar that I bought in Spain and i have been taking lessons for around a year. Passed two exams so far.

I also have a Martin acoustic steel string which I get out of the case now and again for a strum. That's a beautiful guitar.

Picking up an acoustic is very different to an electric - the string tension, spacing, the tone and all these other factors force you to play something new and not rely on your old easy tricks that you know.
