AMP TOO LOUD

hey guys,
my amp is very loud so turning the tube watts up is impossible in my appartment.

Is it worth investing in an isolation cab e.g. Randall (soundproof with speaker+mic inside) and then listening to my cranked head through monitors at an appropriate volume level?

If anyone has experience with this, please share!!

Isolation cabs aren't cheap...
How much power is your amp??? i wonder!
Normally you should record at minimum 30% of gain pot volume on amp, or else the sound wouldn't bring out well. Maybe your should 1st invest in a guitar volume pedal, it is useful when you perform. Though some volume pedals actually alter sound. By the way, is it a guitar amp??? I am assuming it is!!
Try recording during day time, you can go loud without your neighbours on your heels. You just got to manage your time well. Isolation cabs are ideal, if you have the money, why not!!! Although the main purpose of these cabs are really to baffle against reflections of the room, meaning isolate the sound of the room from the amp, not really to soundproof the amp...

volume pedal? no no no..that doesn't solve your problem..u want to crank up your amp to make sure that tube sound shines even at low volume? actually its not new lah.. use power attenuator..one common product is THD Hot Plate.

How does a Hot Plate® work?
A THD Hot Plate® is a tuned network of capacitors, resistors and inductors which adjusts the overall EQ as the volume is turned down to compensate for the human ear's frequency response. Your ear perceives sounds differently at different volumes: the louder the sound, the more sensitive your ears are to highs and lows. As the volume drops, your ear becomes more sensitive to the mid-range, and less so for highs and lows. The Hot Plate® compensates for this, working like the "Loudness" switch on a hi-fi. The THD Hot Plate® is the first, and for now, the only attenuator that is frequency compensated.

now u can hear a cranked up amp at low volume...even less than 30% of pot volume on the amp 8)
