American Fender Strat

American Fenders aren't all vintage.
There are modern pieces, can be had at SV.
Vintage refers to older pieces, ie 70s/80s pieces.
e.g American Standard Strat

2011 piece, its not vintage.
Vintage refers to stuff like

And the desirable ones such as pre-CBS stuff will set you back up to 5-6 digits... :p

And as J.custom has said, forums would be your best bet. I suggest you also look at tgp, tdpri, jemsite etc.

ya,was referring to pre-2000s strats..i tried the one in SV,didn't seem to have to above $1500 vibe to it..at the same time, afraid that from here, some parts removed..sigh

If you're afraid of that get someone who's an expert at identifying strats to come along with you. You should check out the Swing guitars that SV guitars bring in, very good guitars.

If it's brand new, you should'nt worry. even if the shop changed the parts (which I see no reason why), you can confront them. If you are paranoid about buying 2nd hand, 2 options. either you do a decent amount of research or just don't buy.

There are so many Fender USA models out there. which one are you looking for specifically?

American Standard?
American Deluxe?
American Special?
American Traditional?
American VG?
Strat Plus?
The Strat?
Dan Smith Strat?
Highway One?
Roadhouse?
Artist Series?
Fullerton Reissues?
American Vintage Reissues?
Vintage Hot Rod?
Custom Shop Stratocasters?

Just state a budget, wood preference & I can help you narrow it down. Specs is not a problem for me.

Qn abt strats too

I have a question! For the guy who knows alot about strats! I have a budget of about 1.4K for a strat guitar. I like the "bounce" and tang and chime of an alder strat. I just wanted to know what would be the best strat to get. With so many options im quite clueless. G&L legacy? American Standard? Highway one? What are my options? If it couldhelp i'd like my strats in strictly olympic white too:) Just saying. Are there cheaper strats that sound better than the ones listed above?

Few options. Which kind of Fender Logo do you like? How many frets do you need? Any preferences like fret size etc? are you going for 1st or 2nd hand?

I can narrow down to a few models for you based on budget and colour.

1st hand:
Most Fender Japan Reissue Stratocaster (Take note whether it's a basswood or alder model)
American Special Stratocaster
Roadworn Stratocaster
Blacktop (not an option I guess cos it doesn't come in Olympic White)

2nd hand:
All the above that I've just mentioned.
American Standard
Strat Plus
Highway 1

I'm sure most of them come in Olympic White but in terms of specs, all of them vary by quite a bit. To be on the safe side, lean more towards the American Special / American Standard. Don't for for G&L. Good guitars yes but the resale value is terrible.

go to Swee Lee. Have a look. Try a few. Find out what you like and don't like (in terms of fret size, neck profile, fretboard material. narrow down to something within your budget & you have a nice Fender guitar.

You don't have to buy from Swee Lee but it's the best place for referencing. Still, don't give the salesman false hope also la.
