Ditto that. Most innovative software for music. Ever. But I wish Live 5 weren't so buggy with the mp3 decoding. 5.2 is coming out, though. Hopefully, the issues are resolved.

honestly dont care about mp3 audio - any serious musician will tell you , use uncompressed audio when working.

Turbochiecken,

actually i prefer ableton. It is comparable to acid and i love the LIVE sequencing funtion.

Had tried to feel the environment with the M-Audio Ableton Live special edition... must say, majority users need to retune your mindset totally if you wanna get serious with it coz of their totally different sequencing concept from the norm like Acid or those in Sonar/ Audition.

I've tried the demo briefly, but forgot how it works already. Is it possible to record loops on the fly, like the Boss RC20XL? I tried to get this going in Sonar 4 but cannot... if ableton live can do this it would be super-cool!

guys , where can i buy the full version ah?

and how much roughly?

I'm using the demo one now thru my ux 2, so far it works for me.

any ideas?

Buying the full version: Likely, you'll have to order it online from www.ableton.com. Will set you back about 800 SGD or so.

Alternatively, you could buy some M-audio thing (eg, a sound interface or MIDI controller) worth about 300+ SGD, get the Live Lite version, then upgrade it from the ableton website. Upgrading sets you back about 400 SGD. Thus, for about the same price as 800 SGD, you get the full software, plus some M-audio thingy.

Well, if you go that route, it's not so easy either. They have pretty solid anti-crack protection which will shut your copy down if detected. ;)

Being a hardware sequencer kinda guy, I have been shying away from anything soft... until now. Tried the demo version of LIVE5 and it blew me away. I was up and running, recording my own voice and rearranging stuff in a matter of hours. With the help of the tutorials of course. Can't believe you can get all that processing in ONE package! Do i sound hooked? I am. $800 is quite a bit for it but im starting to save up now. Sure beats the crap out of my ancient Kawai Q80 which i still love btw.
