Advise on External Recording Mic for Boss Micro BR

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a Boss Micro BR from another fellow soft member.

I will record guitar (acoustic/electric) and vocals. However, I am not too fond of the on-board mic and need something to better capture vocals.

I was trying to search for stereo condenser mics (preferably electret if available) and came across these few options:

1. Sony ECM-DS70P Recording Mic (http://www.sony.com.sg/product/ecm-ds70p)
2. Sony ECM-719 Recording Mic (http://www.sony.com.sg/product/ecm-719)
3. Sony ECM-MS907 (http://www.sony.com.sg/product/ecm-ms907)
4. Philips SBCME570/00 Electret Mic (http://www.philips.com.sg/c/-/-sbcme570_00/prd/en)
5. Boss BA-CS10 (Boss Micro BR Official Mic) (http://www.zzounds.com/item--BOSBACS10)

While these seemed like options, I contacted all Sony centers here in Singapore and they didn't carry any of the aforementioned Sony stereo mics. They told me my best bet was to check Swee Lee for their dealers who may have parallel imported some of them.

As for the Philips, I highly doubt any stores in Singapore will have that either.

For the Boss one, I also doubt Swee Lee will carry (though I have not checked with them) since the Boss Micro BR is pretty outdated and the newer Micro BR-80 already has built-in stereo mics.

So my further options broadened to include video/SLR camera mics which include:

1. Audio Technica ATR6250 (http://www.sgcamerastore.com/video-equipments/audio-technica-atr6250/prod_1125.html)
2. Rode VideoMic (http://www.sgcamerastore.com/video-equipments/rode-videomic/prod_1107.html)

The prices of these are a bit more than I would've spent for a budget stereo mic since they're specifically for video use. But I figured with the stereo out (and no requiring any power), they would definitely be useful to record with. (But correct me if I'm wrong)

Lastly, I just came across this on the Luthermusic website:

-The Samson Go Mic
(http://www.luthermusic.com/category/condenser-microphones/usb-samson-go-mic)

Now I know this mic is for PC use with it's USB out.

But I was wondering whether I could make this work on my Boss Micro BR by placing an auxiliary link cable from the stereo headphone-out (which is normally used for monitoring) to connect to my recorder.

Would there be any loss of sound quality?

I would appreciate if anyone could give me some advice on what my best option would be.

If it is feasible to make the Samson Go Mic work with the method I mentioned above, I will purchase that this weekend.

I'm relatively new to using external mics for recording so I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!
