Advice on fixed bridges (just the bridge, not guitar)

Hey all, was wondering what are the different kinds of fixed bridges available? and what are the advantages of each of em?

well from what i've seen, all fixed bridges are a variation of the tune-o-matic. i think there are 3 distinct makes/features actually:

1. The standard tune-o-matic
2. Tonepros tune-o-matic with set screw for "better coupling"
3. Ibanez's Gibraltar with smooth edges for more comfortable palm muting

ok regarding tonepros bridge with set screw, i dunt think it's that much a value for money. if ur handy with a drill, you can diy regarding the screw threads. no biggie and definitely doesnt justify spending the extra dough to replace a high quality properly functional standard bridge.

some squier strats also come with the fixed bridge. Unlike tuneomatic style bridges, the type found on it doesnt require a backward angle in the neck

hey thanks for al your replies. where can i get the gotoh catalouge? can't find anythign on google.

ok i haf never seen all those b4 in my life 8O hmm oh yea now come to think of it there's not onli the tune o matic style bridge.. there's the PRS wraparound bridges for instance too.. hmmm oopsie

Gotoh and Schaller, as pointed out by ShredCow!
ShredCow, do I smell a reference to Caparison?

Seriously, Gotoh has a wide range of products. Mr Wilkinson selected Gotoh to manufacture his bridges and pickups... There's the VS100 CV Convertible, which is like the "ultimate fulcrum style vibrato"... "All the features of the VS100 plus the the option of instantly 'converting' the floating vibrato plate to a fixed bridge while you're playing!"[/b]

Hahaa.... caparison? No... the Gotoh Floyd Rose is still spectacular... Had the chance to examine a Schaller Floyd... the Gotoh still looks more well made...

Anyway, 'Gotoh's arm system is top notch... way better than Ibanez or Schaller or OFR...

I've been happy with my Hipshot fixed bridge. You could check that over the web as well. You might have to order it from US retailers.
