advice needed ASAP.

I come from Australia and dollar rate is similar.

Starclassic Performer (Birch) is about $3500-$4000 without hardware. So I'm guessing its around the same price here, although I have never seen a Starclassic in Singapore, YET.

oh ok thanks. without hardware huh. hmmm that's weird cos a DW workshop series only cost 6K with hardware. that means a starclassic isn't that cheap.

Well if you compare the two with hardware it will probably be about the same. It depends on what you want, as both kits are pretty pro.

Starclassic birch should be $3-4k (depending on your discount)
Starclassic maple would be $4-5k...

Workshop series drums do sound good, but i wouldn't tend to count them as "DW drums" as that reference usually suggests the collectors series...which shd be abt 8-9k for a 6-piece i believe...

yep it's about 8k for a collectors satin. it still is DW to me. =) i mean to me they workshop sounds good enough than most drums do so i'll stick by it. =) good price too.

i didn't know they still made the workshop series, the ones with the oval lugs? check out this aussie brand called sleishhman drums. i compared them sound wise at the drum store and i have to say sleishman sounds better to me. the boom on the bass drum and toms were better. the set was more responsive as well i feel. they cost abt as much as DW.

workshop series is actually a range of dw drums that they don't make unless ordered by dealers only. usually they have stock kits for collectors series. sleishman? hmm i'll check it out.

The workshop series was originally phased out, but apparently they re-introduced it recently...

Workshop series do sound good, but for $6k, i don't think they are worth the money... they would hardly be considered top-of -the-line kits, whereas Pearl Masters, or Tama Starclassics are.. and they're cheaper... You should also consider the type of hardware that comes with the kit... you wouldn't be getting the top line hardware with the workshop kit..

i dunno bout the drum qualities. but i know that the hardware included is the 5000 series with a double pedal, 5000 series hihat, 2 boom cymbal stands with tom mounts. if i get a starclassic or the master series i'll get pearl elim double pedals. i heard they can reach DW and IC tensions.

Yeah. In fact, I feel that the Pearl Elims are better than Iron Cobra after I tried on them. It's darrrrn smooth! If I tried on the Elims earlier, I wouldn't have gotten the Iron Cobra. Oh well...

i think they do.. u mean custom sizes? i'm not too sure about tama.. but pearl masterworks definitely have this option of custom sizes.. but i think it will take ages to reach here?

You know dude you have a point man. I've played the Elims b4 and they pretty
kicked major asses at top speed, even if you have slow feet nifty dpads chops could still be achieved no prbs...I'm thinking of selling my IC pads now heh 8O

For one, aussie prices for drums are way above normal market rate. I think the best would be to get a quote direct from Swee Lee. In Aus, a 16" A Custom Crash can run up to about 600-700 buckeroos! That's killer, and I've heard that Mapex V's(the lowest line) goes for something in the region of AUD1k.

Different country, different market, different prices. Check locally, don't compare different country's prices cos it ain't the same.

Settle down mate!!

For one, i wasn't comparing our prices to Aust in the first place. I was just trying to give a guide about approximate prices and have found a similarity in the pricing structure here and in Aus. You may have even noticed that I did mention that prices here tend to be a little better here anyway.

Secondly a 16" A custom crsh in Aust is about AUD$420-450 so get your facts right!

Also in Aus the Mapex V series is the second lowest in the line after the Q series. Who was talking about Mapex anyway?

So yes I know that we shouldn't compare other countries for prices, I was just trying to help out a fellow drummer with some figures because you know how helpful SL can be. NOT VERY!!!

Just had to clear things up. No hard feelings.

PEACE. :smt109
