advice for getting my 1st electric guitar

erm, new to guitar and wanna get a electric guitar. my frens intro me to ibanez at peninsula plaza but dun really know which 1 to get? so can some 1 intro me some guitar which is suitable for newbie like me? budget for the guitar is around 200++ any advice?

BRO i THINK for that budget you should get a squier strat but it also depends to what kind of music you r playing

For a beginner with budget, try not to get those with tremolo system. They tend to go out of tune easily and u will spend more time adjusting it than to play/practice it. When you got more money then you might go for those with minimum Edge III or FR tremolos.

A normal Squier Strat, Ibanez GIO, or a Craftsman 'LP' clone would suffice for a long time. I suggest a LP type first cuz its easier to switch to a Ibanez or a strat/tele due to the neck thickness. Imo it is better to learn the harder way first =)

i would recommend checking out their guitar starter packs. they can bundle a range or guitars and amps for the pack. if you prefer strat type of guitars, i would recommend the craftsman st-130. like Amano said, try to avoid guitars with floating bridges at this price range because good floating bridge units cost $200 plus by themselves, there's no way any manufacturer can squeeze in a good unit into a guitar that costs that amount!

Consider 2nd hand stuff. a lot of guitars that are out of reach normally can be bought within your budget. with regards to models, you have to do some research to find out what you like. check out youtube for reviews.

you need at least another 150 for a good starting amp, or your interest would just wane easily when youre unable to replicate the tone your idols make

try city music they got affordable vox and line 6 practice amps , i think they are on sale now maybe you can get a good deal there

well they are copies of different guitars.. i just got myself a gs300 (prs cutaway copy) and im loving it =D

Check out the Craftsman guitars. City Music house brand. Way better than those starting ibanez guitars or epiphones.
If I'm not wrong there's a package for a Line 6 Spider IV 15W+Craftsman ST-30(cant remember) with picks, strap, cable and a set of spare strings for $284.
The guitar is interchangable as well, but of course you would have to top up.
Got the ST-100 for my friend (the HSS) one plus everything else included in the package for 340, gold hardware, alder body, rosewood fretboard. Pretty decent for that price.
City Music dealers like Sound Alchemy also carry those guitars and amps. Do go down and check it out!

hi blade maiden. For Rock/Metal like gun and roses or iron maiden i prefer you getting a good amp rather than a good guitar as amp does affect the sound that your guitar project out. For me i use a Epiphone Les Paul on a 15 watt Mega Amp with Modtone Speedbox Distortion and i play metal like A7X. if you really have a budget of 200, then try Davis Guitar at peninsula. They have a guitar package that cost less than 200 and it includes guitar, amp tuner etc.

Well, if TS doesnt mind the amount reaching 300, City Music one is recommended because like you had said the product is far more superior. But have to buy it fast as it is on promotion till end of this year which left only 3 days
