adaptor for zoom 505 ii

guys i cant seem to use my adaptor for my zoom 505 ii. i got a normal 9v adaptor but its not made by zoom. do i need to use a zoom adaptor to make my pedal work?

any 9v adaptor for 9-volt stompboxes would be fine, popular options are 1-Spot and T-rex, usually rated at 1A and 500mA respectively...

important to note is the polarity of the 9v DC output of the adaptor, whether tip-negative or tip-positive...
check the 9v power input of your zoom, usually it will tell you the correct polarity...
