Sounds like a great price! Too bad I'm not in the market for monitors.

Just curious, what preamps and microphones will you be getting?

Hi there,

Lovely piece of equipment you have there. FYI, prices have fallen a bit and the A7x is now available brand new for about SGD 1,300. Several shops in Sim Lim Tower as well as Valentine Music Centre offered me this price 3 months ago when I was looking for monitors. Considering the A7x is an updated version of your A7's, your asking price seems a bit steep.

Hi TreeTribe, appreciate your input. I just called Anne from Valentine Music Centre and the MSRP list price for the Adam A7x is at SGD 1,009 per piece. Luthermusic is retailing it for SGD 1,800 per pair, as stated on their website. Hence, I do not think that my price is at all any steep.

If anyone is interested, please feel free to drop me a text or ring me up to arrange to view and audition.
For sincere buyers, I might just be willing to let it go at another $50-$100 cheaper.

Cheers All.

Hmmmm

Heard some reviews on the A7X ...

"A good example is the Adam A7X, I have spoken to a distributor and he mentioned that due to popular demand of people cranking the old A7 to high levels they wanted something that can go louder without distortion.

I own a pair of the old A7, and when listening to the A7X side by side the sound of the unit has also changed. This is a pity because it was the old A7 which had all the raves, and it is now discontinued.

I also heard from a retailer that the new A7Xs are made in China, while previously they were made in Germany.

This is because in studios clients want to hear their music, and there is a phenomenon that playing something louder always sounds better than playing it softer. Therefore main monitors need to have the capability to be played back at extremely loud levels to impress clients, and sometimes absolute sound quality takes a lower priority."

To me, the A7 sounds better than the A7x in the untreated room that I heard them in. A much tighter bass and mid response from the A7. A7x just sounds flabby.

Cool, coldestream. I see you want a pretty colored modern rock-ish sound. Personally, I haven't heard any Rode that really impressed me.

Dam I am really eager to get the Adam A7 as my A3x is a little too small for my preference, but I don't enough at the moment. In my opinion, the A7 is really a spectacular piece of equipment. My school's studio has a pair, and I really really love the sound it produces! :)
