which would you guys recommend?
elixirs?DAddario?wyres?ernie ball?

im looking for something with a good tone and would go for a long run:cool:

The tone would depend a lot on your guitar make. But since we're on the topic of strings, i use Pyramids. Lasts, feels great to fret and very loud.

i mean leaving out the type of wood and stuff what i meant was that some strings resonate better etc.etc
common guys i believe there are much more people who own an acoustic :(

D'addario Phosphor Bronze for me. I also use Ernie Ball Earthwoods. They seem to sound great and add sustain too, and volume wise quite loud. But do note that Bronze and Phosphor bronze strings are brighter and louder than silk and steel strings so the alloy used matters too. For me, 80/20 is sometimes too bright, so Phosphor bronze is the perfect middle for me as of now.

People also say that thicker strings are louder and sound better but for some reaso I never experienced this. I've used 12s before and they didn't sound very noticeably different - just felt a bit more stiff. So just a note, the string gauge isn't the only factor. Note the alloy used for the strings as well, and possibly the material of the nut and saddle of your guitar.

Oh, and the strings I use always last a long time regardless of brand, mainly because I wipe my guitar strings with a dry cloth regularly and keep my guitars in their cases when I'm not playing for a long period of time. So yeah, it helps. But generally I find that Ernie balls and D'addarios last very long tone-wise.

guess dr duck's hungery for some strings

Daddario PB EJ16. They last longer than most uncoated strings. Price wise, not the cheapest. I usually get them by a box and split with a friend or two.

Hmm, I currently use Elixirs.. somehow it sounds better than any of the other strings I tried on my guitar. Previously used D'addario EXP, but somehow my guitar's tone don't sound as good as when the Elixirs on them. Recently tried Martin strings, thought it sounded decent on my previous guitar but it didn't seem to work on my current acoustic. So I'm sticking with Elixirs.

Love the feel of the strings too, not too rough or painful on the fingers. Last pretty long too and not to mention the sound of it. So I think you should go around and try all the diff brands around to see which strings do you like the most. Diff pple = diff preference

i just got a pack of daddario exp15
its my first time trying em and restringing acoustics i was wondering how long would it take to season out the strings its really irritatin that extra trebble feel and btw is fret buzz at this period where the strings are still fresh to occur?

imkeith: It depends on how much you play it. When i first strung my guitar with Elixirs, they were too clanky and like you said, it was over trebly at first. It took slightly less than a week for the strings to season to my liking. So yeah, give it about 5 days?

ohh so it's the same as the electric strings
hmm ok gotta abuse it every single day now gotta get it ready need it on friday :( damm this sucks why do i have to snap a string

From my experience, D'addarios take about 4 days to fully season, so yeah. Give it time. And don't abuse your strings, play them like you usually would.
