Hi all,

Here is a neck reset done on a custom Brian De Gruchy dreadnaught. Tensional forces and humidity has taken its toll and the neck pitch has changed over the years. Hence a neck reset is in order.

regards,
KC

When a long ruler is rested on the neck, it lands way below the top of the bridge. Hence, the neckpitch is off and action is way high past the 7th fret. On a bolt-on electric guitar the neck pitch is easily altered by the use of shims, but for an acoustic the only way is to take off the neck and remove wood from the heel.

This is the ideal neck pitch. The ruler should land nicely on top of the bridge. It is not uncommon for even new guitars to have the neck pitch set wrong, so potential guitar buyers, this is something you can take note of.

The fretboard is heated up, and a gently removed with a 'spatula'

A 2.5mm hole is drilled at the 15 fret and steam is injected into the dovetail joint.
